  • Computer analysis of photographic red reflex to detect strabismus in children
  • Photodynamic therapy in the treatment of Age Related Macular Degeneration
  • Enzymatic treatment studies for diabetic patients may avoid surgical vitrectomy procedures
  • Automated screening programs for Diabetic Retinopathy to be incorporated into broad reaching disease prevention programs

Oculogenetics

  • To characterize genetic diseases of the eyes in families from Maritime Canada and to identify the genes that cause these diseases
  • Identifying genes that cause diseases will produce new treatments, as well as offer appropriate counseling and new detection methods for these diseases.

Retina and Optic Nerve Research laboratory

  • Gain a better understanding of disease processes and underlying structural problems
  • Development of new and more effective treatments for such disorders as glaucoma and retinal ischemia
  • Share discoveries with clinical practitioners and support their incorporation for improved patient care
